Online Ticket Sales

24th June, 2009

It has come to our attention that some ticket reseller web sites are offering tickets for the autumn JLBJH tour at vastly inflated prices. These sites are often based abroad and have not been supplied with tickets by the band or their agents. We recommend that you only buy tickets direct from the venues or through the authorised outlets to which we link in our concert listings above.

Portuguese JLBJH Date Changed

19th June, 2009

Please note that the date of the John Lees' Barclay James Harvest concert at the Aula Magna, University of Lisbon, has had to be changed to Friday, October 9th. This is due to difficulties in arranging transportation for the band for the concert in Berlin on the day after the original Portuguese date. Apologies for any inconvenience caused ...

Tickets are available from http://www.ticketline.pt

On Sunday 4th October 2009, the band will be closing a special free concert event at the Brandenburg Gate in Berlin which is being held to coincide with the final day of a series of large international events and conferences being held in Berlin that week. JLBJH will take the stage at approximately 7pm.

Toronto Concert Cancelled

23rd April, 2009

It is with regret that due to unforeseen increased production costs the John Lees' Barclay James Harvest concert at the Opera House, Toronto on May 6th has been cancelled. John, Woolly, Craig, Kevin and Jez apologise to all fans for this inconvenience. Full refunds on tickets purchased will be sent out over the next seven days via PayPal.

The band will still be performing as headline act at the ROSFEST event on May 3rd in Glenside PA and look forward to seeing you there.

Orchestral Concert Confirmed

26th March, 2009

It is now confirmed that John Lees' Barclay James Harvest will be performing the second half of their set at Shrewsbury with the National Symphony Orchestra. This is a must-see concert, as it may be the only chance to see the band perform some rarely-heard material with an orchestra, and the line-up for the festival is immense!

The JLBJH performance will not be filmed, so the only way to see this unique performance is to be there.

Confirmed to play on the same bill as JLBJH on the Sunday are Melanie, the electric Strawbs and Jethro Tull. JLBJH will be on last - regardless of any other billing considerations, they will be the only band performing with the orchestra, so the logistics of changovers etc. dictate that they need to be on last.

The Friday line-up includes The Carl Palmer Band, Wetton-Downes iCon, Jefferson Starship, Steve Howe and Alvin Lee.

Saturday's bill boasts Mostly Autumn, Focus, Martin Turner's Wishbone Ash, It's A Beautiful Day, Jack Bruce, Robin Trower and Gary Husband and the original line-up of Asia.

The whole event will be held in an enormous 'Big Top'.

Prog at the BBC Programme

2nd January, 2009

Apologies to those who tuned in to BBC 4's Prog At The BBC programme (see below), expecting to see Barclay James Harvest. Despite BJH being billed to appear both in the Radio Times and on BBC Four's own web site, they didn't feature in tonight's programme at all. Unless they are included in the repeat at 0340 this morning or Tuesday 6th, it seems that the line-up of the programme was altered for some reason. If it's any consolation, Gentle Giant's advertised contribution also seems to have been cut ...

BJH Featured in BBC Prog Rock Season

29th December, 2008

Barclay James Harvest are amongst the bands featured in BBC 4's Prog At The BBC programme to be broadcast on Friday, 2nd January from 21:00 – 22:00 UK time.

The programme, which is repeated at 0340 in the morning of Saturday the 3rd, also includes Yes, Genesis, ELP, Caravan, Gentle Giant and Family, and is part of BBC 4's Prog Rock Season. It seems likely that the BJH material will be drawn from their Old Grey Whistle Test appearances, or, possibly, Top Of The Pops.

Immediately after this programme (22:00–23:30), BBC 4 broadcasts Prog Rock Britannia: An Observation in Three Movements, a documentary about the history of progressive music, structured in three parts. .

BBC 4 can be watched live online at the BBC web site, and for a week after the broadcast, any programme can be seen on the BBC web site via the BBC iPlayer.

Mandalaband III Progress Report

29th June, 2008

David Rohl has added lots of new tracks to the Mandalaband MySpace page now. None of them is finished yet - there are still a lot of lead vocals to do, plus all of Ashley Mulford's guitars, Kim Turner's percussion and Geoffrey Richardson's violas and sax solos. Amongst the pieces to be heard is a rough mix of a new piece by Woolly entitled "Nimrod".

The plan is to release not one but two new concept albums - the first is to be called BC – Ancestors and will cover "the heroic age of our ancient ancestral history (leading up to the birth of Christ)". The second album will be entitled AD – Sangreal and concerns itself with "the Romano-Spanish legends surrounding the Holy Grail (minus King Arthur)".

Norman Smith

He produced Pink Floyd's The Piper At The Gates Of Dawn, A Saucerful Of Secrets and Ummagumma, and The Pretty Things' S.F. Sorrow. In 1971 he began making his own records under the name Hurricane Smith and scored hit singles such as "Don't Let It Die" and "Oh Babe, What Would You Say?". He was active into his eighties, issuing a new CD including re-recordings of his hit singles in 2004, and publishing his memoirs, John Lennon Called Me Normal, in 2007.
