Biography
Martin Lawrence
Martin Lawrence was born in Timperly, Cheshire, on 4th March 1956, the son of the famous bandleader Syd Lawrence, who died in May 1998. Syd himself had an indirect connection with the Barclays, as the brass section of his band guested on 1972's Baby James Harvest album, playing on "Delph Town Morn".
Martin's first involvement with Barclay James Harvest was on 1978's XII album, when he stepped in to take over co-production duties from David Rohl after differences arose between Rohl and the band. Lawrence had previously worked on the triple-album box set Consequences from ex-10cc members Godley and Creme, and worked as an engineer at Eric Stewart and Peter Tatersall's Strawberry Studios. He went on to share production credits with BJH on Eyes Of The Universe (1979) and Turn Of The Tide (1981), as well as working on the German chart-topping 'live' album, Berlin - A Concert For The People.
After a gap of a decade, Martin returned to co-produce and engineer 1993's Caught In The Light at John's own Friarmere Studios, as well as joining the band as live sound engineer for subsequent live shows in Germany and Switzerland. By 1997 he was not only working on the River Of Dreams album and tour, but also acting as the band's road manager! Since BJH announced their sabbatical in 1998, he has continued to work closely with John Lees and Woolly Wolstenholme, both live and in the studio, most notably on the Revival - Live 1999 CD.
Martin's other production credits include 10cc and Sad Café, and he has engineered for numerous artists from Paul McCartney to Bob Hope! He lives in Scarborough with his wife Debi and their extensive list of animals!
Martin Lawrence
Martin Lawrence wurde am 4. März 1956 in Timperly, Cheshire geboren.
