It's My Life

Text:
Gathering shadows,
Anyone can build those castles in the air,
But will they ever see them?
Endlessly watching,
Will you always be a face out in the crowd,
When others take the glory?

It's too late, I can't wait.
Time moves on like a setting sun.

It's my life, and I'll do what I want,
Be what I want to be.
It's my life.

And when you're up there centre stage
Playing in the game that fate has left for you,
And everything is turning black.
And if you're falling,
There is always someone waiting in the wings
Just to stab you in the back.

It's too late, time won't wait.
You will be out there on your own.

It's my life, and I'll do what I want,
Be what I want to be.
It's my life.

When the shadows come, and you're feeling small.
If you're all alone, and you've seen it all,
When the times are low, lift your head up high.
Got to see the way.
Got to make it on your own.

Missing You

Text:
I'm missing you
I have to say
I'm missing you
With every day

As I walk the lonely night,
Rain is in the air
You could be here to make it right
Look for you somewhere
Open up this heart of mine
And let your love-light in
I'm missing you
In every way
I'm missing you
So long the days

The silence in the air
Darkness of the night
I've been looking everywhere
You could make it right
Open up this heart of mine
And let your love-light in

I'm missing you
With every day
I'm missing you
In every way

Thoughts in my head
Remember what you said
You're my girl
My girl
I can't believe how I'm missing you
Missing you

As I walk the lonely night,
Rain is in the air
You could be here to make it right
Look for you somewhere
Open up this heart of mine
Before it gets too late

I'm missing you

That Was Then - This Is Now

So hätte “Yesterdays Heroes” klingen können, wäre es auf Welcome To The Show gewesen.
Text:
Here we stand
Face the future
They say you live and you learn
Got no time
For reflection
Your bridges started to burn.

That was then this is now
That was then this is now
That was then this is now

You've been there,
And you've done it.
Had your back to the wall
In the race,
And now you've run it
It doesn't matter at all.

That was then this is now
That was then this is now
That was then this is now

Don't look back,
And don't you worry
You can't live for yesterday
Open door
Into tomorrow
You have to take it and break away.

That was then this is now
That was then this is now
That was then this is now

Prelude

Text:
It's a January 9 a.m. sunrise
On the cobbles of St. Petersburg
And champagne misty eyes.
Someone started painting
All those pictures in the snow.
Where do they go?

Play the song,
You know the time is right
We'll think of them
On such a winter's night.

You know we'll never come this way again.

Hear cries upon the wind.
Tame the violent seas
Make them calm again,
Let the story never end,
You'll find tomorrow's dreams
This January morning.

The sidewalks play
With shadows from the light
And memories
Of such a winter's night.

You know we'll never come this way again.

Hear cries upon the wind.
Tame the violent seas
Make them calm again,
Let the story never end,
You'll find tomorrow's dreams
This January morning.

It's a January 9 a.m. sunrise
On the cobbles of St. Petersburg
And champagne misty eyes
Sad to see those pictures
Are all melting in the snow

Love On The Line

Eine neue Studioversion des Eyes Of The Universe Tracks, aufgenommen zur gleichen Zeit wie Revolution Days und dann der 2003er Neuauflage als Bonustrack hinzugefügt.
Text:
Love like a burning fire
Creeping up on you
Watch as the flame grows higher
Can you see it through?

Don't you know the die is cast?
Got to keep on running faster than time
And you're riding high above
Are you gonna lay your love on the line?

Out where the light is burning
There's a heart that's true
Sounds of the night returning
Put a spell on you

Don't you know the die is cast?
Got to keep on running faster than time
And you're riding high above
Are you gonna lay your love on the line?

Text:
Heard it said and it may be true,
Everybody knows.
Some say this and some say that
And so the story goes.
You've seen it all 'cause I've bared my soul
Till there's nothing left I can say
But you left the best when you took the rest
And you threw the heart away

And to give up your friends at the drop of a dollar
You really were no friend at all,
Did you think that they would still be around
To catch you when you fall?
Catch you when you fall

Quiero el Sol, I wonder
Will I always see those clouds
Darken my days?
Someone's trying to steal my thunder
But your rain will never wash my dreams away

Help you when you need someone
Hear you when you call.
Can you give me a reason to believe all the things
That you write about in your songs?
You're playing all night
And you spend your days
Hanging around having fun,
And in the end you're still pretending
That you're the number one

And you think that it's cool
To tell everybody
That you were poorer than a poor man's son,
When the name of the game
Is fortune and fame
That's hanging on your wall,
Hanging on your wall.

Quiero el Sol, I wonder
Will I always see those clouds
Darken my days?
Someone's trying to steal my thunder
But your rain will never wash my dreams away

We are
Strangers in the dark,
Don't you know
The seeds you're sowing?
We are
Lost among the stars
Don't you know
Just where you're going

Totally Cool

Etwas in Phil Collins' Richtung.
Text:
Hey there with that look on your face
Look into these eyes
You got so much to be thankful for in your life
Just a dream away is reality
Keep it close tonight
Make it real deep
Feel the lovebeat
Whisperin' inside

It's totally cool.
You're nobody's fool
Break all the rules
It's totally cool, totally cool

Hey now with the light in your eyes
Lookin' into space
Let the world sleep
Hear the small feet patterin' inside
Every daybreak brings a new start
With each mornin' star
As.the night fades
An' it all wakes
I know I can't deny

It's totally cool, tonight
You're nobody's fool, it feels so right
Break all the rules, c'mon let's try
It's totally cool, totally cool

There's nothing to say
Nowhere to go
Nothin' to do but know we're alive
No reasons to give
No feelin's to hide
Come and surround me
Let's step out of line

It's totally cool, right here tonight
You're nobody's fool, it feels so fine
Break all the rules, c'mon let's try
It's totally cool, totally cool

Totally cool.
You're nobody's fool
Break all the rules
It's totally cool, totally cool

Life Is For Living

Text:
You and me
Our life is drifting along
Watching the world
As it's singing its song
High above
Someone is calling to me
Life is for living
And living is free

You to me
Are like the sun in the sky
See how you fly
You have wings of your own
You and me,
Our love will last without end
Ride with the wind
Won't you follow me home

Turn around
And see the circles we spin
And we're taking our chances
On where we begin
Up above,
The rain is falling on me
Life is for living
And living is free

You to me,
Are like the sun in the sky
See how you fly
You have wings of your own
You and me,
Our love will last without end
Ride with the wind
Won't you follow me home

Taking up time
Trying to write a line
Till the break of day
Given a sign
Can you make it rhyme
Tell me what to say
Making it fine
Can you ease my mind?
Help me drift away

Sleepy Sunday

Text:
Turn your back
You just can't hide away.
When your eyes have seen
Her face against the morning light.
Just a smile
Could make the day,
And the images you picture in your mind.

Walking in the sun,
Never mind the rain.
Nothing much to do,
Sleepy Sunday.

Turn your back,
Often wonder why
The horizons seem to grow
With every light of day,
And promises that you made
Just fly away
Lost within
Just another day.

Walking in the sun,
Laughing in the rain.
Nothing seems to matter
This sleepy afternoon.
Walking in the sun,
Never mind the rain.
Let the day just roll by,
Sleepy Sunday.

How long can we go on?
Without love.
Hurry back.
Catch the days
Before they are gone.

Turn your back,
You just can't hide away.
Your eyes have seen
The face that's in the morning light,
And promises that you made
Just fly away.
Lost within
Just another day.

Walking in the sun,
Laughing in the rain.
Nothing seems to matter
Sleepy afternoon.
Walking in the sun,
Never mind the rain.
Let the day just roll by,
Sleepy Sunday.

Revolution Day

Ein sehr interessantes sich wiederholendes Gitarrenriff, etwas Pizzicato à la “Every Breath You Take”, deutliche Backingvocals und eine tolle Melodie machen dies zu einem Song, den man hören muß.
Text:
There's something in the air
A feeling of uncertainly
I see it everywhere
Don't let those bad times fall on me

We don't want to change the world
Just looking to survive
Our voices will be heard,
We'll stand up for our rights.
Our spirit will awake,
And something deep inside
Will help us find the way
Waiting for the revolution day.

Hold on to your beliefs,
Don't think about what people say.
Got to let the music speak for you,
And be the light to show the way.

We don't want to change the world
Just looking to survive
Our voices will be heard,
We'll stand up for our rights.
Our spirit will awake,
And something deep inside
Will help us find the way
Waiting for the revolution day.

We don't want to change the world.
We don't want to change the world.

Hold on to your beliefs,
And don't listen to what the people say.

Text:
We will always remember
That 'Leonardo smile'.
With a glance blue eyes
Could touch your soul.
Sweetheart of America,
Child of Germany.
Dreaming all the while
Of coming home.

And for you, Marlene
War is over,
And the stormy rains
No longer fall.
Stars appear and fade away,
Legends never die.
You were the greatest of them all.

Distant days of cabaret,
The heartaches and the fights.
Time you had to hide away your tears.
Heady years in Hollywood,
And those long Parisienne nights.
No-one there to take away your tears.

But for you, Marlene
War is over,
And the stormy rains
No longer fall.
Stars appear and fade away,
Legends never die.
You were the greatest of them all.

Auf wiedersehen Marlene.
